Interim Gardening

As the deforestation of the urban forest starts, the gardening activism taking place in the Heygate Estate slowly comes to an end and so is my project of documenting it. Selected images can be seen on my website. For information on The Heygate Estate, its history, its regeneration and displacement of its residents see Heygate Was Home.

Research stage…first roll developed… more to come…I’m currently photographing in the Heygate Estate: main actor in the large-scale regeneration project of the Elephant & Castle area in South London. This series focuses on the current community-led gardening activities/activism which is taking place within the previously emptied 17 acre space. This is following previous work I had developed around the regeneration of London Victorian Cemeteries into alternative urban green spaces. Selected images can be seen on my website.
